Kastle Pigeon Customer Testimonial: Steve Simes

Steve Simes lives not too far away from me in Kentucky, so I'm lucky that I get to see him in person every once in a while. Steve has a beautiful loft and even more beautiful birds housed inside. When I started selling the Kastle Pigeon supplements, Steve was one of the first to begin using Acidifier Plus. He sent me this update to let me know how it has been working for him. I'm so happy to hear the great news, Steve! "Approximately three years ago, despite properly medicating, I began to lose several homers each year to what appeared to be Coccidiosis; sadly, in amongst them were some of my most prized birds.     I started using Acidifier...

Introducing our new Young Bird Developer Plus formula with added virus support

Viruses are my biggest fear. Every pigeon breeder should have a good health program to defend against viruses, including vaccinations. But what more can we do? I turned back to Alltech® for a solution, and their Sel-Plex® was the answer. So now we have added that ingredient to a new formula of Young Bird Developer, a product that already created huge immune system and development benefits for our growing pigeon babies, especially when they are exposed to other birds. Selenium is a vital element for all animals and is difficult to uptake in nature. Sel-Plex® is Alltech's proprietary organic form of selenium yeast manufactured to mimic Mother Nature, thus better absorbed, stored and utilized by the animal than inorganic selenium....

Customer Profile: Special Delivery for Leroy Carreira

During a recent trip down I-75, I was fortunate to be able to make a quick stop at the racing pigeon loft and home of Leroy Carreira of Kennesaw, Georgia. Leroy is a customer of Kastle Pigeon and had ordered one of our pails of Breeder Advantage, so why not just deliver it in person? It was a short visit, but I had a great time meeting both Leroy and his pigeons, especially some of the M&D Evans stock (of which I am a known fan). He also has some beautiful specimens from the Dream Boy and Antoine Jacops families. Leroy raced pigeons in Hawaii before moving to Georgia last year and will be soon racing with the North Atlanta Racing Pigeon...

Letter to the editor of the Racing Pigeon Digest

Read my letter to the editor of the Racing Pigeon Digest scheduled to be published on Feb. 15, 2017. This is a response to a widely circulating article claiming that acidification creates antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria.  Dear Editor, I am writing to ask that you and your readers remain vigilant in your skepticism of claims made by authors who are submitting articles here.  In the Nov. 15, 2016 issue of the Racing Pigeon Digest, you published an article by Robert Swanepoel of South Africa on the subject of resistant bacteria. In it, he makes claims that acidification is the cause for biofilms created by bacteria, thereby creating a resistance to antibiotics.  However, he provides no evidence, only speculation. He...
